I’m getting awful with these blogs xD I’m gonna do up to today! I promise!
Friday
Started the day with a Skype call to dad, Donna & the girls, with Jasmine & Alyssa. Afterwards the girls went across the road as Natalie had to work, so I packed up the rest of my stuff to make sure I was ready to leave T.T
Alan picked me up to take me to the airport around 11.30am, where Natalie met us there from work :D I checked in, landed that my bag was within the weight limits and the three of us had a drink in the airport. Not long before we finished, there was an announcement that my flight was delayed by 45 minutes, which sucked. Alan and Natalie had to head back to work, so after saying goodbye and mentioning plans to see each other soon, I headed towards my gate for the extended wait (it wasn’t long but felt ages T.T)
The flight didn’t take long, however as the weather was quite foggy in Canberra, the flight was a little bumpy and sway-ey. Even landing in Melbourne where it was really sunny, was quite a bumpy ride. I remember wondering where everything was as we came into land, it was pretty much all fields and I hadn’t seen the city xD
Beyhan, one of my friends from Gaming Union met me at the airport and gave me a lift into town after we finally found his car ^,^ We stopped at my hostel for me to check in and drop my bags off, then jumped on a tram into Melbourne CBD.
Bey’s friends were at the Botanical gardens, so we met up with them and chilled for a while at the park. While we were there, we were rudely interrupted by a loud wasp/hornet thing that was huge >.> (resulting in a few of us jumping up and backing away, while the others stopped their game of frisbee to watch it) It had paralysed a huntsman spider and was dragging it across the grass. I should have taken a photo, but was apprehensive to get too close xD
Later on when everyone headed home, me and Bey went for food and ended up eating at this cutesy Japanese ‘café’. Me, never having eaten Japanese cuisine before had no idea what to have, so went for a Beef Yakiniku with rice. Using chopsticks became a fail and a half, so I ended up using a fork lmao xD I really enjoyed it though, and maybe in the future I shall try more Japanese cuisine ^,^
We then headed to ManaBar, a gaming bar set up by a few gaming dudes, that have a number of games consoles set up and a selection of cocktails inspired by games and characters =D We had a few games of Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Super Smash Brawl while I enjoyed a Kopparburg Strawberry & Lime Cider (Couldn’t resist it xD)
Saturday
Bey picked me up around 11am and we headed to Melbourne Zoo =D A very hot day (I got a tan!) and fun, wandering around for hours watching the adorable animals:

Platypus!

Purty Butterfly =D

Baby elephants play fighting, sooo adorable ^,^

Brown bear… what?! xD

Dawwwwww ^,^
After the zoo we headed down to South Melbourne Beach and walked along to part of St. Kilda beach:

We then had a bit of a geek/gamer turn and headed to Cydus, an Internet Café that turns out to be close to my hostel, and we spent a while gaming there before heading out again to Bey’s friend’s house where we all chilled there and in the local park, whilst being eaten alive by gnats and flown over by huge bats xD
Sunday
I pretty much talked about this in my last blog (confusing? Yeah xD) where I walked into the city to have a lil browse and pick things up, then chilled at the hostel as the heavens opened and a lightning storm hit. At the hostel I wrote my last blog, chilled, and started reading A Clash of Kings =D
Monday
As Bey was working, I went into the city to have another good look around and get some touristy things ticked off my list. I started the day by popping past the Welsh church as I happened to see a signpost for it. It was closed, but had the Welsh flag flying outside. I too, was wearing my Welsh rugby jersey after hearing that Wales beat Ireland in the first Six Nations game.

I went to the tourist information centre in Federation Square to grab some leaflets and look into the places I want to see while here. I went for a walk along the Yarra one direction to see the stadiums in the distance (I believe they were the Tennis Courts and Olympic Stadium) and then in the other direction opposite the Melbourne Skyline and then towards the museum of Immigration.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect at the Immigration Museum; I’d read about it several places and decided to give it a shot, and I’m glad I did. The museum followed the stories of several people who had immigrated to Australia in the past, and showed the history of immigration from two hundred years ago, showing the difference in the reasons why, the encouragement of immigration and methods of getting here.

Also showing there was a special exhibition called ‘On Their Own’, which was about the British children in care/orphanges that were sent to Commonwealth countries, and being promised ‘good lives’ instead became slaves and often abused. A few months before leaving I had actually watched a film called ‘Oranges & Sunshine’ which is based on children sent to Australia and the Social Worker who raised awareness of this.
Tuesday
Yesterday I met with Bey again and we headed into the CBD to check out the ACMI (Australian Centre for Moving Image) that was holding an Indie Games festival. There were a few games on display (Including minecraft ^,^) so we had a play of the games then wandered around the exhibit they had of moving image and films and such. It was a little random and strange (maybe I need to read more of the display tags xD) but really awesome =D

After ACMI we headed to this place called ‘Black light mini golf’, you guessed it, a mini golf course in UV lights with all glow in the dark funkiness ^,^ That was fun and pretty awesome, It’s been so long since I’ve played It xD It was a pretty close game, Bey beating me by one point xD
Wednesday (Today)
Bey picked me up this morning and we headed to the Museum for a short visit. There was something up with his car so he had to cut the day short, but we managed to look around the museum before he had to go, dropping me off in the CBD on the way xD

I went to a shop to grab a few things, and then decided to have a lazy day and head back to the hostel. I went up onto the hostel roof to have a looksie at the view, which was pretty awesome, considering the hostel isnt that high ^,^

And thats my blog up to date for now! Sorry it’s a bit rubbish, I’ve been lazy ^.^
